OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 06/25/2021, Grand Junction police and Mesa County sheriff’s deputies responded to reports that Reginald Ray Hansen had entered St. Mary’s Medical Center while holding a firearm and pointing it at employees. Reporting stated that Hansen said he was there to end his life. Police located Hansen inside the hospital. Officers engaged him and opened fire, killing him at the scene. Hansen was 75 years old. The Mesa County District Attorney later ruled the shooting justified.
