On 12/09/2021, officers conducting follow up work related to a homicide investigation contacted Arnett Carr Jr. in a shopping center parking lot on Panola Road. During the interaction, officers reported Carr picked up a handgun while they were speaking with him. Multiple officers opened fire and struck him. He died in the parking lot. Authorities initiated investigation of the shooting and reported no criminal charges at the time of public reporting.
