OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 12/10/2021, Antioch Police responded around 1 p.m. to reports of gunfire near Dove Court and located Guadalupe Zavala firing a rifle toward vehicles and nearby homes. Officers established containment around the residence and deployed aerial equipment to observe the area. Police reported Zavala fired toward officers and disabled the drone. A prolonged standoff followed and fire ignited inside the garage, spreading through the house. Zavala exited the residence during the fire and officers opened fire and struck him. He died outside the residence. State authorities reviewed the shooting and determined the use of force complied with law.
