On 12/10/2021, Colorado Springs Police responded to reports of an unresponsive man inside a vehicle on Austin Bluffs Parkway while he possessed a firearm. Officers attempted to communicate and direct Xavier Miller to exit the vehicle. Police reported Miller fired shots from inside the vehicle toward officers during the standoff. Officers opened fire and struck him. He died at the roadside location. Authorities reviewed the shooting and determined the use of force complied with law.
