On 01/27/2022, Pierce County Sheriff’s Department deputies conducted a welfare check on a man inside a vehicle on Pacific Avenue South in Parkland. Deputies opened the vehicle door and the vehicle moved. Deputies fired their weapons during the encounter, striking and killing 45-year-old Jerome Holman at the scene. The Washington State Office of Independent Investigations reviewed the deputies’ use of deadly force.
