On 06/23/2022, Green River Police responded to reports of gunfire at the Embassy Tavern near 77 E Railroad Street in Green River. Officers located two deceased victims and another injured person inside the bar. Authorities identified Douglas Wolf, 51, as responsible and launched a multi-agency search involving Green River Police, Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office, and Wyoming Highway Patrol. On 06/24/2022, officers located Wolf inside a building north of Rock Springs. As officers moved in to take him into custody, he shot himself. He was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. The incident followed the fatal shooting of two people at the tavern and resulted in a regional investigation.
