On 07/23/2022, Redondo Beach Police Department officers responded to reports of shots fired in the 200 block of N Irena Ave. Police reported the man was firing a gun outside a residence and rounds struck nearby vehicles. Police ordered neighbors to shelter in place and deployed SWAT during the standoff. Police later reported the man shot himself and died.
