OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 08/15/2022, Los Angeles Police Department officers responded to reports of a robbery suspect barricaded inside a motel room on North Alvarado Street in the Westlake area of Los Angeles. A SWAT team and the department’s Gangs and Narcotics Division responded to the location. Nearby buildings, including a school, were placed on lockdown or evacuated during the standoff. After several hours, officers entered the motel room at approximately 10:45 a.m. and found 33-year-old Dominique McGuire dead from what authorities described as a self-inflicted gunshot wound. No officers fired their weapons during the incident.
