OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On August 13, 2022, deputies with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office responded to a rural property in the Squaw Valley area after a woman called 911 to report that her son, David Wilson, was armed with a rifle and had fired shots at her. When deputies arrived, they heard gunshots and took cover. Over an extended standoff that lasted through the night, Wilson continued to fire at deputies. Deputies did not return gunfire. A SWAT team was called in. Shortly after dawn, sheriff’s deputies located Wilson inside the home and found that he had died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Authorities confirmed his death was by suicide.
