OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 08/19/2022, San Diego County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to a reported house fire and barricaded individual near Granite Hills High School in El Cajon. A standoff developed after deputies established a perimeter around the residence. Negotiations continued for several hours. After deputies entered the residence, they located the man deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Authorities reported he had a gun during the standoff. The death was investigated by the Sheriff’s Department Homicide Unit.
