OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 09/02/2022 at approximately 1:54 a.m., Casper Police Department officers on patrol at Lake McKenzie Park in Casper made contact with an adult male identified as Corey David Garriott. When officers attempted engagement, Garriott fled on foot. During the foot pursuit, Garriott produced and fired a weapon at officers. Officers returned fire and struck Garriott. He was transported to the Wyoming Medical Center and later pronounced deceased. The involved officers were placed on administrative leave and the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation was requested to conduct an impartial review.
