OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 03/22/2023, Minnesota State Patrol troopers attempted to stop a vehicle on Interstate 35 near Sandstone. The driver did not stop. Troopers escalated a vehicle pursuit that ended when the vehicle went into a ditch. Law enforcement officers fired less-lethal rounds during the encounter. Officers later found the man inside the vehicle with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Officers recovered a handgun from the vehicle.
