OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 08/08/2023, shortly after 6:00 a.m., FBI agents served a federal search warrant at a residence in the 1300 block of Mountain Road NE in Albuquerque. The operation was conducted by an FBI tactical team. During the execution of the warrant, agents shot and killed 32-year-old Ahmad Nassar inside the residence. The FBI did not immediately identify Nassar or provide a detailed explanation of the events leading to the shooting.
Relatives publicly identified the deceased as Ahmad Nassar after authorities declined to release his identity. According to the family's attorney, agents entered the residence, detained Nassar's mother and brother outside, and remained inside the home before informing the family that Nassar had been killed. The attorney stated that the family was not provided with an explanation of what occurred inside the residence.
Court records associated with the federal search warrant indicated that agents recovered a BB gun from inside the residence after the shooting. Publicly available records reviewed through August 2026 do not establish whether agents alleged that Nassar pointed the BB gun, whether additional weapons were present, or what specific actions immediately preceded the shooting. The FBI has not publicly released body-camera footage, photographs, or a detailed timeline of the encounter.
The FBI stated only that an agent-involved shooting occurred while agents were executing a court-authorized warrant and that the incident was being investigated under the Department of Justice's standard procedures. Public reporting located through August 2026 does not identify the individual agents who fired their weapons. Because the agents have not been publicly identified, no review of prior shootings, disciplinary history, complaints, or civil litigation involving them could be completed.
Public records reviewed through August 2026 do not indicate that any FBI agent was criminally charged or disciplined in connection with the shooting. No publicly reported Department of Justice determination explaining the use of force was located. Likewise, no publicly reported civil-rights settlement or wrongful-death settlement involving Nassar's death was located through August 2026.
OFFICER HISTORY:
The FBI has not publicly identified the agents involved in the shooting.
