On 08/15/2025, Allan F. Tucker II, 32, died while in the custody of the Alexandria Police Department after being arrested for public intoxication. Police responded to reports of a man yelling and knocking on apartment doors before arresting Tucker and transporting him to the Alexandria Adult Detention Center. He later became unresponsive and died despite emergency medical efforts. In June 2026, Alexandria's independent policing auditor concluded that officers failed to comply with multiple city and department policies during Tucker's arrest, transport, and medical care, identifying significant failures in the hours leading up to his death. The names of the involved officers have not been released.
