NARRATIVE:
On 04/13/2022, an unidentified driver was killed along with an unidentified passenger when the Chevrolet pickup they occupied crashed into a tree during a Knox County Sheriff’s Office pursuit in Knoxville.

At approximately 11:35 p.m., a Knox County Sheriff’s Office patrol officer observed the Chevrolet pickup being driven recklessly in the area of Clinton Highway and Pleasant Ridge Road. The officer attempted a traffic stop, but the driver continued away. The officer obtained the pickup’s license-plate number and learned that the plate had previously been reported stolen to the Knoxville Police Department.

At approximately 11:39 p.m., the officer initiated a pursuit. The pursuit continued through western Knox County for approximately seven minutes.

At approximately 11:46 p.m., the pickup traveled across railroad tracks in the 7500 block of Ball Camp Pike. The driver lost control after crossing the tracks, and the pickup left the roadway and struck a tree.

Both occupants of the pickup died at the crash scene. Their bodies were transported to the Knox County Regional Forensic Center for examination and identification.
