OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On January 31, 2023, at approximately 9 p.m., Eagle County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence on Beard Creek Road in Edwards, Colorado. Leoni exited the residence with a firearm. Deputies opened fire, killing him.

The partner, a local business woman, hired attorney Marhoffer who said that Leoni had no prior criminal record, history of violence of “anything in his past that would lead to the conclusion that this was a necessary event that occurred in that house that night.”
No officers were charged.

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation conducted an investigation into the incident, and the findings have been forwarded to the 5th Judicial District Attorney’s Office for review.
