OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 07/23/2023, Columbus Police Department officers responded to a reported domestic disturbance at a residence on Wedgewood Court. During the incident, a man barricaded himself inside the home. Officers established a perimeter, and the Muscogee County Sheriff's Office SWAT Team responded to assist with the standoff.
Law enforcement attempted to resolve the situation through negotiations. During the standoff, officers determined that the man had died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. No officers fired their weapons.
