Officers of the Massachusetts State Police Gaming Enforcement Unit along with members of the Springfield PD assigned to the Gaming Enforcement Unit responded to the MGM Springfield casino around 2 a.m. for reports of a 48-year-old male acting aggressively to others and possibly armed with a firearm within the casino. Policelocated him as he was leaving the casino. During a foot pursuit, shots were fired between the man and police. William Tisdol was shot and killed.
