OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On May 30, 2024, at approximately 5:00 p.m., Minneapolis Police Department officers responded to reports of a shooting at an apartment located at 2221 Blaisdell Avenue in the Whittier neighborhood. Upon arrival, officers discovered 32-year-old Osman Said Jimale deceased inside Apartment 18, having suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

During the response, Officer Jamal Mitchell approached to render aid to an individual, later identified as 35-year-old Mustafa Ahmed Mohamed. Mohamed opened fire, fatally wounding Officer Mitchell. Other officers arrived and an unknown number of them opened fire, killing Mohamed.
