OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On May 2, 2024, at approximately 11:30 a.m., officers from the Raynham Police Department responded to a welfare check at the King Philip Street Apartments following a call from Stephen Maclean's girlfriend. She reported that Maclean had been acting aggressively after being fired from his job for arriving intoxicated and was exhibiting belligerent behavior.

Upon arrival, officers knocked on Maclean's apartment door. When he opened the door and pointed a handgun at them, two officers discharged their firearms, fatally wounding Maclean. A third officer deployed a taser. Officers immediately administered first aid until paramedics arrived. Maclean was transported to Morton Hospital in Taunton, where he was pronounced dead.

The officers involved, Sgt. Frank Pacheco and Officer Jennifer Lang, both 12-year veterans of the Raynham Police Department, were placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation by the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office.
