On February 27, 2024, at approximately 12:30 p.m., Daytona Beach Police Department officers were conducting an operation targeting a man for alleged motorcycle theft. During the course of the operation, officers engaged with 56-year-old Gina Jennings, who was near the scene. The driver of the vehicle that Jennings was in sped off when officers approached, initiating a chase. Daytona Beach officers escalated the pursuit. During the chase, Jennings was forcibly ejected from the moving truck in the 600 block of Madison Avenue.
