On Jan. 30, 2023, Lindsey Garmon, 38, of Wellington, was a passenger in a car Sedgwick County deputies tried to stop on Kellogg Avenue around 5:20 a.m. The car she was in did not stop and deputies escalated a chase, ending at Hoover and Taftin when the car crashed into a utility pole, killing passenger Lindsey Garmon. Police did not state why they attempted a traffic stop that led up to this death. No officers were charged.
