Ana Ortega was walking a dog when she was hit and killed by a truck driven by an unnamed off-duty Clovis police officer Wednesday morningat about 7:50 a.m. on Clinton Avenue between Bethel and Greenwood avenues.The officer’sChevrolet truck was traveling east on Clinton and Bethel while Ortega was walking her dogwest on Clinton on the roadway when the truck veered into the direction of the woman causing critical injuries. She died at the scene. The dog was injured. The officer was neither named nor charged.
