On May 23, 2023, Sheridan PD attempted to perform a traffic stop on a vehicle. The driver allegedly did to stop and police began chasing him in Grant County. The speed escalated to high speeds and police assaulted the vehicle with a PIT maneuver which caused the car to crash and roll over, killing the driver. The vehicle was stolen. Police did not publicly identify the deceased driver. No officers were charged.
