WaymonSwanegan was driving around 1:50 a.m. on Jan. 27, 2023 when Oklahoma Highway Patrol tried a traffic stop. He did not stop and the trooper escalated a “wild chase” causing Swanegan to lose control and crash into a building. He was killed and his passenger was critically injured. The passenger, 48-year-old Clayton Banks, was rushed to OU Medical Center in poor condition and his outcome is unknown. Police allege there were drugs in the car and speculate that this may be why Swanegan did not stop but it is unknown what the urgent reason was this dangerous chase was undertaken at all.No officers were charged.
