Jimmy Mitchell, a third-party motorist driving a Camaro, was driving down the street in the Patch neighborhood when a police chase crashed into him, killing him. Hedied at the scene.Several witnesses stated that St. Louis County police were chasing the vehicle, a gray Hyundai, when it crashed at Broadway and River City Casino Boulevard.
Police deny this and claim that officers did not chase the vehicle.“Our officer did attempt to stop the Hyundai,” said St. Louis County spokesperson Sgt. Tracy Panus. “However, all efforts were immediately terminated when the driver failed to stop. There was no pursuit,” police stated in direct contrast to what eyewitnesses had reported seeing. No officers were charged.
