A Bakersfield police patrol vehicle at South Vineland and Muller roads in Bakersfield crashed into a Honda Accord. The unnamed male driver in the Honda was killed and a female passenger was taken to a hospital with moderate to major injuries. Two Bakersfield police officers were also injured.
CHP did not identify the Bakersfield officers but said the officers were 23 and 24 years old. CHP said the unidentified deceased driver was a 30 -year-old man from Bakersfield.No officers were charged. It is unknown whether speed was a factor and why the crash occurred.
