Border Patrol used spike strips on Highway 80 and the targeted vehicle crashed a few miles later while trying to enter the interstate asthey hit a New Mexico Department of Transportation vehicle head on.
The driver of the fleeing vehicle died at the scene. Four migrant passengers were hospitalized with injuries, along with the driver and passengers from the Department of Transportation vehicle. The chase was allegedly “ordered terminated” but for unclear reasons, officers continued the hunt long and caused this crash. All injured and killed were destitute undocumented migrants.
