A Jefferson County deputy tried to stop a speeding vehicle in Watertown at around 12:30 p.m. on 03/20/2023. The driverdid not stop and left the city, drove east on Highway 16 toward Ixonia. When police escalated a chase, the driver lost control while trying to pass other drivers and left the road. A person later identified as Maureen Stark was ejected from the vehicle during the crash and died as a result of the police chase crash.
