Republican Senator Kevin Cramer’s son Ian Cramer was in the process of being taken to the emergency room for acute hallucinations. He was known to be mentally ill. In the emergency room, he jumped in the driver’s seat of his sister’s car and drove away. The Mercer County Sheriff’s Office chased him into Hazen, ND. A deputy had parked his vehicle on the side of the road and was placing stop sticks to stop Cramer when Cramer crashed into the empty patrol car and accidentally killed the deputy who was placing stop sticks at the time to stop the fleeing vehicle.
