Carrollton police officer Steve Nothem was hit and killed Tuesday night after arriving to back up a fellow officer at 1905 E. President George Bush Turnpike when his squad car was hit at 10:24 p.m. while he was still inside. The driver who hit him, 82-year-old Phillip Parker of Carrollton, was pronounced dead at the scene.
