North Carolina State Highway Patrol was conducting speed enforcement in Wilson County when a black Dodge Charger passed troopers at high speed. Troopers started chasing the car into Johnston County when the car crossed over into oncoming traffic and slammed into a white Ford pickup. Two third-party motorists were killed in the police chase crash.
The two victims who died in the crash were Marvin Daye Atkinson, 43, of Selma, and Thatis Eugene Mickens, 56, also of Selma.
