Ohio police officer Demetris Ortega committed a hit and run in which he killed Naimo Abdirahman. Her family is desperate for answers and for transparency from police.
Columbus Police Officer Demetris Ortega was the passenger who created the hit-and-run accident and police identified the runaway officer as the driver from a tip. After the vehicle crashed, the officer got out to check on Abdirahman and the two drove off, fleeing the crime scene. Officer Ortega turned out to have been drunk at the time of the crash. He was sentenced to 18 months in prison for the manslaughter and fleeing the crime scene.
