Texas DPS tried to stop an 18-wheeler in Clarendon that did not stop. Police called for backup and a total of DPS, Donley County deputies, Texas Highway Patrol troopers, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and Gray County deputies all hunted the truck at high speeds, placed spike strips and engaged in a shootout on the road with Elizabeth Stevenson. When the truck stopped, numerous officers shot and killed passenger Elizabeth Stevenson and her husband Edward Stevenson.
