On October 26, 2024, at approximately 2:45 a.m., Deputy Brandon Tyler Parker, 28, of the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, was involved in a fatal ATV crash on Pondfield Road near Gaffney, South Carolina. While off duty, Deputy Parker was operating a 2023 Honda Pioneer 1000 at a high rate of speed when he lost control, veered off the right side of the road, became airborne, and collided with several trees. He was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected upon impact, resulting in fatal injuries. Deputy Parker began his career with the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office in June 2018, briefly left in September 2019, and returned in October 2022. He served as a canine handler in the Uniform Patrol Division with K-9 Kilo. The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office and the community mourn his loss and extend condolences to his family.
