Lieutenant Mark Meadows of the Irondale Police Department was struck by a vehicle while directing traffic during the Church of the Highlands’ “21 Days of Prayer” event at the intersection of Grants Mill Road and Overton Road. He was transported to Grandview Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Meadows was a 30-year veteran of the Irondale Police Department, a former Mountain Brook officer, and a U.S. Army veteran. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is investigating. The 32-year-old driver remained at the scene.
