Alton Modlin was traffic-stopped and engaged in a shootout with an officer during which a K9 was killed in a vehicle explosion when the vehicle caught on fire during the shooting. Police chased him with greater than 100 officers, SWAT and numerous law enforcement vehicles, aerial support and dogs until they found him in a corn field and shot and killed him.
