Two off-duty IMPD officers were working a moonlighting job and were in full IMPD uniform when a shooting occurred in which a man had fired at several civilians, injuring 3. The off-duty officers opened fire. A man with gunshot wounds presumed to be the shooter showed up later at an emergency room where he died from gunshot wounds. Officer Cain had previously killed Monolito Ford in 2021.
