On February 9, 2025, at approximately 1:00 a.m., a Fayette County Sheriff's deputy responded to a reported stabbing at a Pilot Travel gas station in Stanton, Tennessee. Upon arrival, the deputy encountered 33-year-old Giorgi Merabishvili, who had allegedly stabbed another individual. During the confrontation, the deputy discharged their firearm, fatally wounding Merabishvili. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is conducting an independent investigation to determine the events leading up to the shooting. No law enforcement officers were injured in the incident.
