On April 6, 2025, a suicidal individual in mental health crisis drove away from Montgomery County deputies on Interstate 74 near Crawfordsville. Deputies deployed tire-deflation devices near the State Road 32 exit. After the vehicle stopped, deputies approached and found the man had shot himself. He was pronounced dead at the scene. No officers fired their weapons.
