On 10/27/2025, deputies with the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence on the 3000 block of Union Hill Road in Canton, Georgia, after receiving a call from a relative requesting a welfare check. Deputies encountered an armed man outside the home, and during the confrontation, they opened fire, killing him. When deputies entered the residence, they discovered the decaying body of his mother inside. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is conducting an independent investigation.
