On 12/08/2025 Portsmouth Police escalated a pursuit involving a stolen vehicle traveling toward Norfolk. The driver crashed on the Berkley Bridge and got out of the wrecked car. Under police duress the individual jumped from the bridge into the Elizabeth River. Authorities later recovered the body.
