On 06/13/2021, Denver police responded to reports of gunfire involving a parked vehicle near Yosemite Street and East Colfax Avenue. Officers located a damaged vehicle and later encountered Duane Manzanares Jr., who was 30 years old and reportedly had been drinking. Police stated they observed a firearm handle visible at his waistband. Officers opened fire and killed Manzanares during the encounter. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
