On 10/27/2021, Boise police responded to reports of a man threatening to jump from an overpass near West Myrtle Street and South Capitol Boulevard. Officers located Zachary Snow on the overpass. Police stated that Snow moved away from officers while pointing a dark object in their direction. Officers then opened fire, shooting and killing Snow at the scene. Prosecutors later cleared the officers of criminal wrongdoing. Snow’s family filed a federal civil rights lawsuit alleging wrongful death, and the City of Boise later agreed to a financial settlement with Snow’s mother.
