On 12/26/2021, Greenville County deputies responded to a domestic related call and were informed Matthew David Snyder had left the residence. Deputies later located him near Twin Falls Road and Black Oak Court and established contact while he possessed a firearm. Deputies and SWAT personnel attempted communication for an extended period at the roadside location. Gunfire occurred between Snyder and deputies and officers opened fire, striking him. He died at that roadside location. State investigators reviewed the use of force and authorities later cleared the involved deputies.
