On 11/05/2021, Madison County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a domestic dispute call at 6416 Georgia Highway 124 after residents requested assistance removing Jessica Worsham from the home. Deputies confronted her at the doorway and gunfire occurred during the encounter. A deputy was wounded and another deputy fired their weapon, striking Worsham. She died from her injuries. Authorities initiated investigative review of the shooting while the injured deputy received treatment.
