OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On February 5, 2023 at 3: 29 a.m., Marion PD was called about shots fired in the area and found a matching vehicle by description on the 3000 block of S.Curfman Road. Police tried a traffic stop but the driver kept driving. They chased the vehicle, caught up with the man, tasered him. He fell down and when he got up, he was tasered again. Police allege that he bent down and they believed that he was trying to pick up an unspecified object they refer to as “weapon” and he was shot and killed. Bodycam reportedly exists, awaiting release.
