On 05/01/2024, a Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) patrol car traveling northbound on Gower Street attempted to cross Santa Monica Boulevard against a red light. The patrol car collided with a westbound vehicle, spinning the patrol car into a pedestrian crossing at a marked crosswalk. The pedestrian, described by LAPD as a 27-year-old visiting British man and a resident of the United Kingdom, was knocked under the patrol vehicle.
