The Richland County Sheriff's Department and South Carolina Highway Patrol combined chased a vehicle that refused a traffic stop. Police escalated the chase to over 100 mph until the vehicle ended in a pond near Lost Creek Drive and Boat Ramp Road in the Chestnut Hill Plantation subdivision. Five teenagers ages 14 to 18 were pulled from the vehicle. Hours later, Brandon Nunez, a sixth person was found drowned. He had not been the driver.
