Matthew Reed, 27, Was chased aggressively by Bean Station Police Department (BSPD) Officer Tristan Pettiecord who observed two motorcycles traveling on Hwy. 25E at 96 mph. The officer claims that he attempted to conduct a traffic stop and the motorcycles refused to stop. The officer escalated the chase to more than 100 mph until the motorcycle crashed, and Matthew Reid died. According to police, this fatal chase was undertaken for the sole reason of failing to stop on command. Police apparently found several joints, totaling a small amount of weed and dramatized this as the only crime they could accuse him of after his death. No officer was ever held accountable for what seems like a senseless death.
